Smartphone applications like Frog Log (pictured left, from the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service) allow the community to contribute their observations as part of scientific research. In this example, the community reports frogs they see or hear around Tasmania. Note: a Redmap Smartphone App is on its way!
