New: Redmap phone app launches this weekend!

Yvette Barry, 15 Oct 2013.

Logging an unusual marine sighting is about to get easier! Redmap launches its new phone app at the Under the Sea Film Festival at Avoca Beach in NSW. Check out the pics of the new app.

Redmap Australia has developed a phone application to complement our successful log-a-fish website. The app makes it easy for fishers and divers to report sightings of unusual fish and marine species with just a few clicks on their phone.

The free app is being launch as part of the ‘Under the Sea Film Festival’ at Avoca Beach, NSW: a perfect location to celebrate the app and raise awareness of our marine environment.

If you are in the area,  come along to see what the project and app are about (there are giveaways, chocolates and more!):

REDMAP APP LAUNCH:

Under the Sea Film Festival

Avoca Beach Picture Theatre (69 Avoca Drive, Avoca Beach NSW)

Check out the screen shots of the app, left. Become a citizen scientist and download the app at the iTunes app store (search for: redmap). It's not only beautiful, it's easy to use in reporting uncommon fish in your region.

What is the "Under The Sea Film Festival"?
71% of our world is covered by it. Our blood has much the same chemistry. Romance, religion and myth celebrate it. Our history and our future are defined by it. And yet it’s as foreign as a distant planet - inhospitable, sometimes deadly, but essential for the survival of life on Earth. And we are killing it…

The allure of the sea is elemental and resonates deep in human consciousness. But most of us know more about the moon than we do about what lies… under the sea.

The festival provides a portal to understanding and celebrates efforts to expand our experience of this magical, awesome and vital environment.
