Redmap offers scholarship for new IMAS marine biology school unit

Redmap is offering one scholarship to a student to study the new Marine Biology unit XAS101 A Practical Introduction to Temperate Marine Biology offered as part of the University of Tasmania College Program.
Run by the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), in conjunction with outdoor education group WildMob, XAS101 is an intensive week-long unit taught on Maria Island (Tasmania) designed to engage, challenge and inspire Year 11 and 12 students through hands-on training in marine science.
Successful completion of the unit can also count towards both the completion of a degree in Marine and Antarctic Studies at the University of Tasmania; and may be used towards the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
The Unit does not incur HECS tuition fees for eligible students and Redmap is offering one scholarship to cover the field excursion fee ($645)* for either the October 2015 or April 2016 unit.
XAS101 A Practical Introduction to Temperate Marine Biology is being offered on Maria Island, Tasmania:
- September school holidays: 30th September to 4th October
- Easter school holidays 2016 (dates TBA).

HOW DO YOU APPLY FOR THE REDMAP SCHOLARSHIP*?
To be eligible to apply you must be enrolled or enrolling in year 11 or 12 and concurrently studying (or enrolling to study) in one of the pre-tertiary subjects of Life Science, Biology and/or Environmental Science & Society.
Furthermore, to receive the Redmap scholarship, you will need to obtain a letter of support from your teacher and if under 18 years of age you will also need permission from a parent or guardian.

* The Redmap Scholarship covers the field excursion fee of $645 which includes return travel from Hobart to Maria Island, as well as food, accommodation, gear hire and sampling activities during the field trip on Maria Island. Travel costs of getting to and from Tasmania and Hobart - or any other expense - are not included. Note: applying for the Redmap scholarship does not automatically enrol you in the course.
