I took this photo today at approximately 11am at Shiprock dive site in Sydney. I have personally never seen this fish before in Sydney so I think it is rare. It looks similar to a very large estuary cod that I spotted in the Solomon Islands last year, but that is an area some 10hrs north of Sydney. This one was small, e.g. the size of a grown Red Morwong. The species type I have used below is my best guess. Please amend and let me know what you think it is.
