I caught this fish 5km off Ballina nsw in 50mtrs of water on old wreck site about 10am 9.5kg a ripper ? no one can remember anyone catching one here

About this species
Very distinctive fish in the juvenile and young adult stages. Three dark red bands cross the body vertically. One runs diagonally forward from the front of the dorsal fin, another from the middle of the dorsal fin and the third runs diagonally backwards from the rear of the dorsal fin. In large adults the bands disappear and the fish becomes a bright red. Read more…
