Short boarfish

A very distinctive boarfish with a very deep body, a high rounded dorsal fin with a concave rear margin, large round pelvic fins, a long almost tubular snout and a prominent black ocellus on the rear of the dorsal fin.
Length: Up to 34 cm
Habitat
Moderately to exposed inshore and offshore reefs; 10-200 m depth

In Victoria, log this species if spotted from Port Phillip Bay eastwards
